In front of my balcony are bushes and low trees, where lots of birds are chirping and hopping about in summer. So, in winter I have bird feeders on it and all kind of birds are coming to eat, like different kind of finches, titmice, blackbirds, sparrows and one robin came by. I like the cute little fella with its red breast and curious look, but robins are hard to photograph. So, I couldn’t get a picture when it visited my balcony, but I was lucky when I was walking through Sanssouci Park 🙂
Some other birds I was able to photograph. The goldfinch is the one coming most often and usually not alone. It’s also very picky! It picks up the sunflower seeds and let’s half of them fall down and chooses the next seed… the tits are not so picky, they eat all the seeds. They pick one up and fly to a nearby branch, where they crack it open and eat the seed. The hawfinch (a bird I didn’t know before) is huge compared to the other birds and was waiting very patiently before flying over to the bird food. In contrast to that the mockingbird was very forceful to get to the food and was shooing the other birds away.

Not sure if the first one is also a hawfinch, but it looks like one, definately no sparrow..
Ich bin mir nicht sicher ob der erste Vogel auch ein Kernbeißer ist, aber es ist definitiv kein Spatz..

Vor meinem Balkon sind einige Sträucher und niedrige Bäume und im Sommer trällern und hüpfen die Vögel dort herum. Im Winter habe ich ein Vogelhaus und Kornspender aufgehängt, so dass alle möglichen Vögel diese jetzt anfliegen, wie z.B. verschiedenste Finkenarten, Meisen, Amseln, Spatzen und ein Rotkehlchen war schon da. Ich mag die kleinen Kerlchen mit ihrer roten Brust und dem neugierigen Blick. Sie sind nur sehr schwer zu fotografieren und vom Balkon aus hatte ich bisher noch kein Glück, aber als ich letztens durch Park Sanssouci ging ist mir ein Foto gelungen.
Einige von den anderen Vogelarten konnte ich leichter fotografieren. Der Distelfink, oder auch Stieglitz genannt, kommt am meisten und selten allein. Er ist auch sehr wählerisch! Er pickt die Sonnenblumenkerne auf und die Hälfte davon lässt er fallen, dann nimmt er sich die nächsten… Die Meisen sind da nicht so wählerisch, sie nehmen auch die verschmähten Kerne der Finken. Sie nehmen sich ein Körnchen und fliegen zum nächsten Ast, knacken die Hülle und essen das Innere. Der Kernbeißer (ein Vogel, den ich vorher nicht kannte) im Gegensatz zu den anderen Vögeln ist er riesig und sehr geduldig. Er wartet und beobachtet alles genau bevor er zum Vogelfutter fliegt. Dagegen ist die Amsel sehr energisch und scheucht die anderen Vögel weg.
