In preperation of my holiday in January, I found out they rebuild a Roman Fort in Manchester. So the Roman Fort was on my list of things to visit. It was our second day that we decided to look for it and we were quite lucky with the weather. The day started out sunny with a blue sky and when we found the Roman Fort and Settelement in Castlefield it got darker by the minute.

Bevor ich im Januarnach Manchester fuhr habe ich bei meinen Vorbereitungen herausgefunden, dass ein römisches Fort wieder aufgebaut wurde. Also befand sich das Römische Fort auf meiner Liste. An unserem zweiten Tag entschieden wir uns das Fort zu suchen und hatten sogar Glück mit dem Wetter. Der Tag hat sonnig angefangen und als wir im römischen Fort und der Siedlung in Castlefield ankamen wurde es von Minute zu Minute dunkler.

Roman Fort – Mamucium

One can go through the reconstructed North Gate to the Roman fort, where the remains of the foundations of Roman buildings can be found.

Man kommt durch das wiederaufgebaute North Gate zum Römischen Fort, wo Überreste römischer Gebäude zu sehen sind. 

From the Beetham Tower we had a nice view over the area and I could take some photos of the Roman Fort from above.

Vom Beetham Tower aus hat man eine tolle Sicht über die Gegend und ich konnte auch ein paar Fotos des Römischen Forts von oben machen.
